I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
This book was a slow start, let’s say a simmer until the last quarter. Then it took fire and finished with a typical Sara Ney flare. I wasn’t sure I would like it, but now I can say I loved it. And there is a standout star for me…and let’s just say it’s of the fluffy variety!
The names were perfect. Come on, a spunky girl named Abbott? Yeah, sold. A frat boy grown up named Brooks? Yep. My cup of tea. The premise wasn’t my favorite since it first came across like three guys make juvenile bets that could go nowhere but bad. But when neighbors meet, a kick-butt Nan steps in, and there is feline plotting, then the story takes off.
I still can’t decide if I loved Desdemona or Nan more. I know, I know…I’m supposed to love the two main characters best, but the snark and attitude inherent in Desi and Nan couldn’t have been more perfect.
Overall, a fun read.
