Three years ago I met the most amazing girl in the world. We were both down on our luck. Then I got that call—the one that tells you to get your buns on a plane to go meet your destiny.
But the girl was left behind. I didn’t have her phone number, and she didn’t know my real name.
While I became a professional hockey player, she became a superstar, with platinum records and legions of fans. And a slick, music producer boyfriend who treated her badly.
But fate wasn’t done with us yet. When Delilah turns up at a hockey game, I can’t resist making contact. The internet swoons when I ask her out on a date.
She might not remember me. But her jerkface ex does. He’ll do anything to keep us apart.
Good thing athletes never give up. This time I’m playing for keeps.
Sometimes lady luck shakes your hand, and sometimes she smacks your face.
Sometimes she does both on the same day.
Yet another wonderful addition to the Brooklyn Bruisers series, Superfan is a unique twist just as to who is acting the part of the mooning fan. Usually the focus is on the hockey player but in this case it’s Bruisers’ back up goalie who is doing the crushing. In one of the best Twitter flirts during a hockey game, Silas manages to attract the attention of rising pop star Delilah Sparks.
Delilah Spark and “Ralph” Silas Kelly once shared a budding attraction to each other but life had other plans for both of them, good plans, as each make their ways in their careers. Delilah’s is fraught with behind the scenes drama as a few bad choices make up a huge part of this story. It’s what brings them together but also has the potential to stop the momentum of their relationship.
This story is one of second chances and finding faith in oneself and each other. I found Silas and Delilah simply delightful. Silas is adorably adoring of Delilah, and when they do find each other again, he has some explaining to do. But once they find each other again, their connection is breathtaking and sexy. Everything about their relationship is fast tracked as they face competing career needs.
Too trusting Delilah has a bad record deal with a beyond shady ex in Brett Ferris. Everything about him screams bad news. His deception and greed knows no bounds, and threatens more than Delilah’s career. There’s an element of suspense as Delilah has a stalker that makes a bodyguard necessary. He doesn’t seem particularly trustworthy as it appears his motivations may be questionable, but all will be revealed. And Brett, well his history with Silas creates an interesting air of mystery. All in all a great and fast paced read, one I wholeheartedly recommend.

There are certain authors out there who are synonymous with “good read” because they can consistently deliver a fun and dynamic story with characters you love. Bowen gives us two characters who connected back before they made a name before themselves, a.k.a., got famous. But timing was against them. We unfold their story with jumps between the present and the past to see how they originally met, see their sizzling connection, and watch as they find their way back to each other.
Silas, who also goes by Ralph (great story to that one), is by far my favorite. He’s a solid man without the cockiness (even though he could certainly carry it!), loyalty deeper than the sea, and a heart that only beats for one woman: Delilah. Silas is such a steadfast rock, something Delilah needs but is afraid to need. But seeing them come together when the timing was actually right for them was so exciting. He’s such a big fan of hers, proud of what she does, but truly a fan of the woman. His genuine demeanor is what spoke so deeply to me.
Bowen’s writing is always superb. She gives us a fast-paced and well-developed story with characters you can’t help but love!
