Force of Nature by S.L. Scott
on March 31st, 2019
Genres: Romantic Suspense

I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

“This book is for true lovers of romance! A unique, strong, feisty heroine. And the hero! Gah! He’s an alpha hero that you will fall head-over-heels for.”

~Adriana Locke, USA Today and Washington Post

Winter Nobleman is complicated. To say the least.

It was supposed to be simple. Go to Paris, find a client’s daughter, and close a multi-million-dollar deal. Easy. Then I meet her. Stormy blue eyes, quick wit, and the secrets she keeps on the tip of her tongue make me forget my mission for a moment, or six, and why I’m in Paris in the first place—to bring her home.

Distracted by her beauty, I fail to notice the others lurking with missions of their own.

Bennett Everest is the twist I never saw coming. Talk about perfect timing.

He steals my breath the first time I see him and breathes hope back into my heart. He’s a giant in my eyes, a king among men with patience and love to share in spades. Six foot three. Whiskey-colored eyes. Solid gold on the inside.

Despite the dirty deeds of my past, he sees the person I am meant to be and not the person I have become.

If the lies don’t kill us, will the truth set us free?

My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

S.L. Scott proves time and again what a stellar romantic suspense author she is. In one of the worlds’ most romantic cities, the youngest of the Everest men meets and falls for a woman he’s been sent to retrieve as part of a business deal. Is Bennett Everest is a being played and if so, who exactly is playing him? Is he blinded by his attraction or is something much larger and sinister going on?

Winter Nobleman is a complex woman. Scott baits the reader as we come to learn of a man that Winter will only call HIM, a very not nice him. Her relationship with HIM would make anyone uncomfortable as she alludes to the hold this man has over her. Winter is trapped in an “agreement” which makes for a stellar plot line.

What I always love about reading Scott’s books is that her characters are imperfect and sometimes make questionable decisions. What I don’t like is how inferior Winter feels

“Thinking about how I got into this mess . . . I wanted to prove my worth to him. The strategy was simple. Get the job. Get the man. Get the secrets that could save my family’s company. Then walk away the hero . But in grand Winter style, I failed bigger and better than ever.”

Upon reading this line I needed Bennett to show his worth and reverse the destructive path she is on. And he does in a glorious manner. One that seems to be family trait held by the Everest men. Bennett is utterly swoon worthy and as the truth to Winters’ situation comes to light, he finds himself going into hero mode. But he’s just a man who’s falling for a woman that he comes to crave and will do anything for. With Bennett in the picture, the story evolves to include both his and her families. But there’s nothing noble about the Noblemen men.

I found myself completely absorbed in this tension filled read. Scott creates a clever , multilayered conspiracy story with lots of action, both in and out of the bed and boardrooms. 4.5 stars and recommendation.

“With stellar writing and the kind of plot that you instantly connect with, Force of Nature was everything I love in a story and more.” -LitlJen, Goodreads

Living in the capital of Texas with her family, Scott loves traveling and avocados, beaches, and cooking with her kids. She’s obsessed with epic romances and loves a good plot twist. Her favorite color is blue, but she likens it more toward the sky than the emotion. Her home is filled with the welcoming symbol of the pineapple and finds surfing a challenge though she likes to think she’s a pro.
