Breaking girl code never felt so good in this sexy, contemporary romance from authors Dominique Laura and Kimberly Reese. This romance contains cheating, a heroine with a smart mouth, and a sexy AF alpha a**hole.
Esperanza ‘Perrie’ AyalaI’m a force to be reckoned with. I’ve worked my way to get to where I’m at. Life was good, but then I fell for him. He’s my best friend’s soon-to-be husband. There’s no ring, but there will be. She’s everything I’m not. He’s everything my body needs, what it craves. We didn’t cheat. No. We had one night, after their umpteenth breakup. We had fun, and when they got back together, it was like it never happened. But it did, and I need more. But more isn’t possible, so I’ll settle for his friendship—for now.
Lawrence Sterling Montgomery IIII’m a lucky bastard who’s always been confident in where my life will lead.Take over one of the most influential West Coast families. Marry the right girl. But my plans are shaken when the wrong girl stirs up forbidden feelings. We match in all the ways that should count.I want her, but I can’t have her—won’t let myself have her.We had our fun, but I’ve made a mistake. I’m just not sure if the mistake was being with her in the first place or letting her go.
Don’t Let Me Be Yours is the first book that I’ve read by either of the either of these authors, and I am inspired to read more by these two. Together or alone. I was looking for something a bit lighter then what I got, but I loved it all the same. It was sexy and all consuming and I blazed through this in a matter of a few hours. I just couldn’t let the idea of Perrie and Sterling together go but it’s certainly a struggle to see them together.
This story is everything you could ever want when it comes to a love triangle, minus the hard and fast feelings of love. Nope, no one is using the L word in truth. No one is innocent here but certainly there’s one person who should be cut loose and 2 people who need to work through the mistakes they made which led to this “triangle” situation in the first place.
Our villain is just that. A woman who manipulates and lies to get what she wants. She not at all likable and I couldn’t help but cheer on Perrie when she and Sterling happen upon each other while on a night out. The true nature of Rachel and Sterling’s relationship is exposed and Perrie and Sterling decide that they can be friends – I’ll give them an A for effort but man, that connection is magic and something more is certainly doable. Right?
What follows is a rollercoaster of up and down feelings, a push and pull (of clothes), and the fallout of actions by one conniving beotch of a woman. If I read this fast it was because I couldn’t wait to see her lies come to roost. What I love about the storyline development is that Sterling and Perrie aren’t perfect, in fact I found myself pretty angry with Sterling a few times and I wondered how Perrie rationalized her actions, but they have so much potential – alone and as a couple.
All in all an enjoyable read.
