The kid is now a man, and he’s got something to prove…..
Caleb “Cruise” Harrison“
A Dad is a son’s first hero……”
All my life I’ve looked up to my Dad, there’s nothing I ever wanted to do more than be a member of the Moonshine Task Force right next to him. I said no to playing football professionally to stay in Laurel Springs and fulfill my dream.
I’m biding my time, paying my dues, and soaking up any bit of information my fellow MTF members slip my way. To most of them I’m the kid they watched grow up, and while they’re proud of me, they don’t take me seriously.
Life is status quo until the morning all hell breaks loose in our small town threatening everyone I know and love – including the one woman I can’t get out of my head.
“My favorite place? In his arms……”
Caleb saved me from the worst date of my life, swooping in like the fixer he
is. Smiling his panty-melting grin, he grabbed my hand, and extricated me from the longest ninety minutes known in the history of the world.
Instead, he took me on the best date I’ve ever had. We’ve been inseparable
since that crazy night.
It hasn’t been picture-perfect. His job is dangerous, it worries me, even when he tells me not to. One gorgeous summer day, it all comes crashing down on us.
The man who has my heart is in the middle of a FUBAR situation that has no good ending. My hope is, when the smoke clears Caleb walking towards me, arms out-stretched, with that grin on his face, before he envelopes my body into the hug only he can give.
That’s what would happen in a perfect world – but I’ve never known a perfect world – not even with Caleb……
Hands down, Caleb and Ruby’s story is my favorite of the MTF series. And congratulations to Laramie Briscoe for concluding this series with such a beautiful and uber sexy love story! Her writing is impeccable; the dialogue makes you feel like you are in the scene, the banter between Caleb and Ruby captures the raw desire that draws them together, and shows how the characters relate. There’s not a ton of angst in the story line and we really get to focuses on two people with a great connection falling in love.
It’s clear what motivates Caleb. He’s an alpha in the best of ways. He’s courteous and protective and when he finds himself stepping in to “save” Ruby from a bad date, he knows he’s done the right thing. He finds himself immediately giving Ruby a pet name which tells him just how much he likes this girl. And you’ll adore Ruby too! What I really love about her is that she confident and humble. She does not play games and she’s not petty. The past is the past and she lives for the future. One that will clearly include Caleb.
They seem fated for each other. You’ll absolutely feel the giddiness she feels when she’s with Caleb, the excitement of every next date, and the promise of each other because Laramie Briscoe captures it so perfectly. You’ll feel the draw as Ruby and Caleb begin to spend more time together. It’s not pushed or rushed, but it is fast. It simply can’t be helped. And these two are HOT together. This story is the sexiest I’ve read in a long while.
There’s a great group of co-stars in this story, Caleb’s sister Kelsea, his parents, and their friends. The story spans about a year and moves through this time period at a perfect pace. This is a spectacular read and one that I highly recommend! 5 Stars!
