Kim Bailey delivers a sweet and heartfelt story in Fairytale Kisses, the second in her Here and Now series. This is a second chance at life and love story, complicated by the main characters Caleb and Zadie’s pasts. The unexpected connection between this younger man and a slightly older women sets up a string of events that culminates in a fated future.
Caleb and Zadie meet through Caleb’s older cousin Chantal. Caleb is at a crossroads in his life, not satisfied with school and just needs a break and a chance to figure out what he wants in life. From the moment they meet, he wants Zadie, but they hold out on each other. Both a bit too afraid to share their histories as they will impact any chance of a future together. I found Zadie a bit frustrating and a tad self absorbed, but she makes for an interesting character.
I haven’t yet read books 1 and 1.5 from this series, so I was delightfully surprised by the connection between Chantie, Zadie, Caleb and Eric. This little twist had me perplexed but I like that I didn’t see it coming. I’m curious now and plan to read both books 1 and 1.5 so I can close the gap, but I don’t think it’s needed to enjoy what forms between Caleb and Zadie. All around it’s a well paced and enjoyable read.

A disheartened cynic.
gets her motivation from coffee and good books. She enjoys lively
conversations, usually with imaginary people, and can often be found staring
wistfully into space. Her novels are emotional, sexy, contemporary romances with strong women, broken
alphas, and a kinky beta or two–all of them, fiercely passionate.
