I was done.

Done with men.

Women say it all the time; they get fed up, throw their hands in the air, and vow a life of celibacy—until the next chiseled chest comes into view and then they’re foaming at the mouth and wiping the drool from their chins. But this was different, I really meant it.

I’d been manhandled by the last pig that would ever bring his sausage near me. After one of the nastiest divorces in history, followed by some of the crudest and raunchiest dates, I’d decided to bat for the other team.

…At least I tried.

But creating the next Brat Pack hadn’t been on the agenda. Neither had Collier West. And I wasn’t prepared for finding true love at the end of my gal-pal tryst

Girl Crush

Girl Crush by Stephie Walls
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My first Stephie Walls read and it was absolutely perfect. She has a reputation for being angsty, but Girl Crush shows she can be clever, funny and angsty. Off the top I have to say I recommend this book. The characters are engaging and plight of our heroine Giselle, is one that is all too relateable.

When Giselle has had the last bad date with an uncouth hipster man-boy, she decides why not “give the Y a try”, in other words she decides that she wants to date women. What that mean leads her down a journey of self discovery. She has a lesbian best friend Veronica or Ronnie to help guide her through the steps of what to look out for when dating a woman so she feels well prepared. The problem is, she doesn’t take into account that one just doesn’t decide to be homosexual. She gives it a college try and does find herself with a great group of new friends. and she gains a lot of insight into herself.

The writing is stellar, the dialogue smooth, humorous and puts us in Giselle’s head space. She got a lot of reason to be skeptical and while she finds herself “crushing” on a few women, something is just not meshing. She’s a genuine and endearing character and I rooted for her to find her way. I wholeheartedly recommend this enjoyable and fun read. 5 Star!!
