I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Nothing good comes after the third date.
Date three is the crucial point when things get real, which is exactly why I bounce out the door, twiddling my fingers at whatever poor boy I’ve left behind. Because if I stick around, one of three things will happen: he’ll profess his undying love, he’ll get weird and stalky, or I’ll go crazy. Like, Sid and Nancy crazy. Like, chase-him-through-the-streets-begging-him-to-love-me crazy.
Seriously, it’s better for everyone this way.
So when I meet Bodie, I figure it’ll be the same as it ever was. It doesn’t matter that he doesn’t put a single string on me. Doesn’t matter that he’s funny and smart and jacked or that he can play my body like a grand piano. Because even though I’m built for love, love has only carved me up like a Christmas ham.
Resistance is something I can only hang on to for so long, and he has persistence in spades. But my heart isn’t as safe as I want to believe, and neither is his. And the second I ignore my cardinal rule is the second I stand to lose him forever.
Staci Hart must like the challenge of one-upping herself. I mean, every book is stunning and Bad Penny is just another example of the greatness I’ve come to expect. Stacy writes amazing characters and plots out the most perfect story lines. I just can’t stop myself from gushing about this book. This story has EVERYTHING I love in a romance read; it’s entertaining, funny, sexy, thoughtful, and all consuming.
Staci’s characters are always wonderful, but there’s something really special about Penny. She’s the kind of character that I wish I could live in her skin for just a day. Her voice is so clear, she’s witty, brash, bold, and has a sense of confidence that’s only inhibited by a long endured fear of falling in love. Relationships just aren’t her thing.
“Every time I met a new guy, I would fall into easy infatuation, a giddy affair with a time limit. I wanted zero commitment .”
But there’s a new boy to challenge her 3 date rule , Bodie.
“I was nine hundred percent sure my uterus whispered his name when he smiled at me, popping that dimple and my ovaries with a simple flicker of cheek muscles.
Beautiful, brilliant, Bodie. The spark between these two is intense and leads to some of the hottest scenes I’ve read lately. But Bodie and Penny have so much more going on between them. This emotional and character driven story touches on many highs and lows about being in love and being afraid of what that means. But Bodie perseveres in charming Penny right out of her clothes and into her heart, essentially “dicknotizing” her.
Bodie and Penny actually share some history so he’s pretty understanding. He knows some of what she’s been through, the circumstances that made her who she is and he provides her just the right amount of distance; doesn’t label what they are, and gives her the promise of a no strings attached relationship. Naturally this becomes a sticking point between them but they can both be pretty stubborn. This made for an angst filled situation that had my muttering under my breath. Mostly though, these two had me stifling giggles, squirming during their sexy times, and holding my breath in anticipation. Experiencing Penny and Bodie “falling” for each other is FUN (it would have to be if Penny is involved.)
I always inhale Staci Hart’s books and feel like I’m experiencing what her characters are going through. I call it an experience become that’s what Staci’s writing is for me. She writes with such passion, such wit, and her characters are always so well-developed. Staci Hart – I simply ADORE you and your amazingly mad story telling skilz. Bad Penny is yet ANOTHER 2017 #Favorite and a #MustRead from Staci Hart. 5++ Stars!!!

About the Author
Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey.
From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.
