They've spent their lives pushing each other away, but what will happen when they need each other most?

Anita Martin doesn't expect much from life. Growing up on the street, bouncing from one foster home to another, she learned to rely only on herself. Even after she finally found a loving family to take her in, she was still an outsider-something Abraham, one of the family's older sons, never let her forget.

Abraham Evans doesn't know how Ani always manages to get under his skin, only that's she's been doing it since they were teens. She is-and always has been-undeniably gorgeous. But he's never met anyone as pissed off at the world as Ani.

For fifteen years, Ani and Bram have agreed on exactly one thing: they can't stand each other-until one night when their anger gives way to passion. Yet even as Ani and Bram begin to secretly seek comfort in one another's arms, they remain emotionally worlds apart. When Ani's life takes a dramatic turn and she realizes she needs more than Bram can give, their fragile, no-strings relationship unravels. One way or another, Ani is determined to survive. But when Bram finally admits his true feelings, he may discover Ani has moved on without him . . .

Change of Heart (Fostering Love, #2)Change of Heart by Nicole Jacquelyn
My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

The second in the fostering love series and the second book by Nicole Jaquelyn that I’ve read , Change of Heart is a surprisingly addictive read. I finished Unbreak My Heart about a month ago with Ani and Bram’s relationship in the back of my mind. There’s was definitely some tension between them and I was anxious to find out why. It’s so much fun to have an entire book focused on them because their combative relationship is actually really HOT. Plus, spending more time with the this complicated family is uplifting.

But, the focus here is Anita and Abraham and what drives their crazy convoluted love hate relationship. The fact is, I don’t think I ever discovered what that might have been because frankly I got so wrapped up in their connection that all I could see what their smoking hot chemistry. There are a few moments where I caught myself turning on the fan to cool down. I think a good chunk of this is simply in how Bram talks to Ani during these moments. As for their banter (usually funny) , name calling (standard character attacks) and the sometimes cruel remarks, there is always an undercurrent of family love and you know they would do anything for each other.

“Our dynamic was practically set in stone. I made the first comment. Always. I’d say something, then Bram would say something back, and then we’d trade jabs for as long as we were together.”

Ani is full of spunk and doesn’t back down. EVER. I like this about her as it makes her appear tough as nails and highlights her confidence. There were definitely times I gave her a literary high five for her sassiness.

“I am the fantasy,” I said… “I am bendy like an acrobat, cook like Julia fucking Child, and can do most home improvement shit myself. I’m the whole goddamn package.”

As for Bram, well the more I got to know about him, the farther I fell. He’s alpha-man bossy, but has a sweet artistic side and everyone knows how devoted he is to his family. So when the story line includes a turn where Ani steps up to help her biological sister, it’s a bit surprising Bram is not as supportive as we would expect. But I do love this struggle for Bram. He’s not really conflicted but he definitely doesn’t understand these new feelings. However, his is also where we see what a lovely person he is and he shows a tender side that stole my breath away.

Change of Heart is a fast paced story and the author is not shy about piling on some heartbreaking turn of events. The entire family will face one of the biggest blows they’ve experienced and will be bonded by how they respond as individuals and as a unit. I absolutely adored this book and it gave me all kinds of sad, happy and sexy feels. 4.5 Stars and recommendation.

ÔÇ£Shut up,ÔÇØ I bitched, letting go of his back with one hand so I could grip his hair in my hand. ÔÇ£Please, justÔÇöÔÇØ My words cut off on a strangled groan as he shifted and slid a finger inside me. No build up. No hesitance.

ÔÇ£Damn, youÔÇÖre tiny everywhere,ÔÇØ Bram stuttered in surprise, making me chuckle then gasp.

ÔÇ£Pants,ÔÇØ I said frantically, my hips moving against his hand as my mind blanked. ÔÇ£Pants. Off.ÔÇØ

My hands went to his jeans, and he sighed against my face as I rubbed my hand down the length of him.

ÔÇ£IÔÇÖm so hard, not sure if I can get them off,ÔÇØ he said half-seriously, pulling his finger from me in a slow glide.

ÔÇ£I have an exacto knife in the console,ÔÇØ I whispered back, our hands tangling as we pulled at his jeans.

ÔÇ£YouÔÇÖre not getting anywhere near my junk with a knife,ÔÇØ he hissed back, moaning as his jeans finally loosened and he pushed them down his hips.

ÔÇ£Commando?ÔÇØ I muttered as my hands hit warm skin.

ÔÇ£Need to do laundry.ÔÇØ

I laughed lightly as he leaned back to sit on his heels, grabbed his wallet out of his pocket, and pulled out a condom.

ÔÇ£Hurry,ÔÇØ I murmured as I reached down and wrapped my hand around his dick. Holy shit. Bram was packing. My lips turned up in a grin. ÔÇ£WeÔÇÖre working on borrowed time here.ÔÇØ

BramÔÇÖs head snapped up as he rolled on the condom, and he looked out the windows, making sure no one was nearby. ÔÇ£Shit.ÔÇØ

He looked down at me, then up at the windows, then down at me again before gripping my hips and yanking my lower body up so high that most of my weight was resting at the tops of my shoulders.

ÔÇ£What theÔÇöÔÇØ

I let out a high pitched sound that IÔÇÖm pretty sure IÔÇÖd never made before in my life when his head dropped between my thighs and his mouth opened wide over my pussy. His beard rubbed softly against my thighs and the undersides of my ass cheeks, and I shuddered.

ÔÇ£Oh my God,ÔÇØ I mumbled squeezing my eyes closed as his tongue licked up my center, curling around my clit. The wet sound of his mouth opening and closing and licking and sucking filled the SUV, partnered with his groans and my heaving breaths.

At first, it just felt really, really good, but then, he focused in, rubbing over and over my clit with his tongue, bringing me closer and closer to orgasm. My body locked, and I clenched my teeth against the urge to scream.

Then he stopped and lowered my hips back down.

ÔÇ£No, no!ÔÇØ I lifted my hips frantically against his hands, ÔÇ£DonÔÇÖt stop!ÔÇØ

ÔÇ£Shhh,ÔÇØ Bram murmured, coming down on top of me as I slapped at his shoulders. ÔÇ£Knock it off, Ani.ÔÇØ

I froze at the raspy sound of my name on his lips.

ÔÇ£YouÔÇÖre small,ÔÇØ he murmured, lifting my knee high until it was wedged between his arm and my ribs.

He pressed against me slowly, and my entire body relaxed to let him in. I rolled my hips slightly as he moved, and he pulled back out a fraction before pushing forward again. Doing it over and over until our bodies were completely locked together.

Wiping a hand over his beard, he shuddered, then leaned down to kiss me sweetly. ÔÇ£If I woulda waited until you came, youÔÇÖd be too tight for me to get inside,ÔÇØ he said with a soft chuckle. ÔÇ£This wayÔÇÖs better.ÔÇØ

Then he began to move, shifting his hips just barely back and forth as he ground his pelvic bone against my clit.

My nails dug into his back as he pushed up until his arms were fully extended and looked down to watch my face. I didnÔÇÖt know what expression I was making, and for a split second, it bothered me that he was watching me so intently, but then it began to build again. Faster and harder than before.

My muscles began to tighten and flex, and unable to control it, my leg that heÔÇÖd been pressing up into his side shot straight down, my thighs wrapping around his hips like a vice as I came, making the fit of him inside me even more snug.

ÔÇ£Holy shit.ÔÇØ He snapped his hips forward hard as I pulsed around him, pulling back quickly and shoving forward again, over and over until my muscles went limp.

ÔÇ£Knees up,ÔÇØ he murmured frantically, leaning back to grip my jelly-like legs beneath my knees. He pressed them to my chest and then began to really move, pulling out almost completely and sliding back in hard three or four times before his movements went clumsy and he jerked, groaning deep in his throat.

He fell down to his elbows above me and rested his lips against my shoulder as we each caught our breath.

But as my breathing slowed, my heart began to pound.

What the hell did we just do?

Top 5

Change of Heart by Nicole Jacquelyn ÔÇô Top 5 Movies

The one-liners in that movie are fantastic, the storyline is absolute gold, and I think itÔÇÖs one of the realist depictions of a love story that IÔÇÖve ever seen on film. I also have a deep and abiding love for Ellen Page.

Almost Famous

Who doesnÔÇÖt love the story of a dorky teenager who gets to go on the road with a rock band in the seventies? I mean, really.

Dirty Dancing

Patrick Swayze anyone? Plus, the music and the dancing and the chemistry were fantastic. ItÔÇÖs the clich├®d story of the bad boy and the good girl, and I canÔÇÖt get enough of it.

Pretty in Pink

I really love anything that John Hughes made, but Pretty in Pink is probably my favorite. I love so many things about it, but to narrow it down IÔÇÖll just say, Jon Cryer as Duckie, James Spader as the asshole rich kid, the record store, and the homemade prom dress.

David Bowie wears spandex and dances around with a bunch of puppets. Enough said.

About Nicole Jacquelyn

Nicole Jacquelyn is the mom of two little girls and a full time college student. She hasnÔÇÖt watched television in well over a year, she still does things that drive her mother crazy, and she loves to read. At eight years old, when asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she told people she wanted to be a mom. When she was twelve her answer changed- to author. By the time she was eighteen, when people asked her what she wanted to do with her life, she told them she really wanted to be a writer- but the odds of that happening were so slim that sheÔÇÖd get her business degree ÔÇ£just to be safeÔÇØ. Her dreams stayed constant. First she became a mom, then she went to college, and during her senior year- with one daughter in first grade and the other in preschool, she sat down and wrote a story.
