At twenty-one, Jared Leigh had been prepared to give up the life of a touring musician to be a father after getting his girlfriend pregnant. When she told him that sheÔÇÖd gotten an abortion, Jared was devastated. Now at least he has the groupies to keep him companyÔÇöuntil a blast from the past rocks his world.
Callie Talbert hasnÔÇÖt seen her sisterÔÇÖs ex since high school. But after Callie bumps into Jared while sheÔÇÖs grocery shopping with four-year-old Logan, thereÔÇÖs a spark that wasnÔÇÖt there before. Jared quickly realizes that her deaf ÔÇ£sonÔÇØ is the same age his own child would have been. When Jared demands to know more about Logan, Callie panics. There are things she just canÔÇÖt tell him. Besides, JaredÔÇÖs a bad-boy rocker, not a dependable father figure. HeÔÇÖll move on to his next gig soon enough . . . right?
Trouble is, Jared refuses to be pushed away, and the more quality time he spends with Logan, the more heÔÇÖs captivated by the woman Callie has become. When the truth is revealed, Jared only hopes that the three of them have what it takes to become a real family.
In a poignant romance from the author of┬áThis One Moment (ÔÇ£Hot, intense, and filled with emotion.ÔÇØÔÇöRachel Harris), the rock stars of Pushing Limits have hit the big time. But fame gets tough when love presents a fork in the road.
After meeting the band Pushing Limits in This One Moment, I was anxious to get back into their lives. Where TOM was as much a suspense story as a romance, My Song For You does firmly in the romance genre. The premise intrigued me as the potential for angst seemed high. Lindenblatt does not disappoint us in this. In fact, we get a story line balancing angst with hope and passion.
The story begins at around the time TOM was coming to a close so there’s a tiny bit of crossover in time. However, now we are focused on Jared and a reconnection of an old family friend with Callie and events that occurred in the five year gap since they had last seen each other. Jared bulldozes his way into Callie’s life and soon discovers that she holds a very book secret.
This is one of those stories where you wonder would you do the same thing that Callie does in withholding information from Jared. She’s doing this based on her sisters direction and I have to say I can so see both sides and understand why. Jared is a sweetheart but his hardline reaction is a little disappointing. But, with this we get a fair amount of angst and the promise of a great make-up scene (or tw0). There’s also some drama created by the predicament of Jared being attached to a Hollywood starlet but I love that Lindenblatt doesn’t draw this out just for the sake of creating heartache. There’s simply a great balance between the drama and the new sexual tension between Callie and Jared. And, there’s no story without Logan. He’s a well written child who immediately stole my heart.
My Song for You is sweet and sentimental read that I consider an easy read – the story flows along so well that you’ll be swept through the weeks that Callie, Logan and Jared redefine what a family is and create their own little safe haven. 4 Stars and recommendation!
