ONE LITTLE LIE. A WHOLE LOTTA TROUBLE.
Moments after meeting the most gorgeous guy ever, Gabby Winters promptly gets stung by a zillion yellowjackets and falls-not gracefully-into a stream. Yup, Ethan Hunter is trouble with a capital "hot," and Gabby definitely needs to keep her distance. Except in the small town of Haven, there's nowhere to hide from Ethan's sexy, infectious grin . . . and all the residents are conspiring against her.
At the center of the town's matchmaking is Ethan's grandmother, who's convinced their relationship is a done deal. Rather than break her heart, Gabby and Ethan find themselves cornered into pretending to be falling in love. The problem: there's serious sizzling attraction between them. And if this charade continues, they won't fool just the entire town - they might fool themselves too . . .
Run to You is Rachel LaceyÔÇÖs first book in her newest series ÔÇ£Risking it AllÔÇØ. ItÔÇÖs a story filled with heart, humor, and love. Rachel Lacey has a way of drawing you into the story with her words and humor. And IÔÇÖm slow and steady becoming a huge fan of hers.
Gabby Winters ran to the sleepy town of Haven to escape her past, to find herself, and overcome her fears. While she might not think sheÔÇÖs a strong person, she definitely is stronger than she ever gave herself credit for. After a disastrous previous relationship, Gabby has no intention of giving any man a chance in the near future, regardless of the sizzling chemistry. Yet, her chance encounter with Ethan, and the resulting arrangement, changes that.
Ethan Hunter has no intention of ever settling down, not even his grandmotherÔÇÖs wish can change his mind. His tough childhood taught him to be weary of his own temper, and he isnÔÇÖt going to drag anyone into his issues, no matter his attraction to the person. One lie, told to make his grandmother happy, changes the course of his life. But will he be able to let go of his fears in order to pursue his own happiness?
Gabby and EthanÔÇÖs relationship, or non-relationship, is a complicated one for sure. While they told a lie and pretend to be in a relationship, itÔÇÖs becoming all too real, all too fast. While Gabby comes to terms with her feelings for Ethan rather quickly, Ethan keeps fighting his feelings for her. It takes quite a while for him to get his act together, which was the one thing to make this angsty, but also frustrating. They share a sizzling chemistry, a beautiful love for one another, and while theyÔÇÖre not perfect, theyÔÇÖre perfect for each other.
Run to You is a story filled with hilarity, a passionate love between two scarred people, an entertaining storyline, and great writing. This was my second Rachel Lacey book, and I think itÔÇÖs safe to say by now that IÔÇÖm a fan of her stories and writing. If youÔÇÖre looking for a sweet, funny, and angsty romance, make sure to check out Run to You and LaceyÔÇÖs other books. I can only recommend them.
~Review by Anja
ÔÇ£IÔÇÖm glad you brought me out here.ÔÇØ Gabby stepped over a tree root, lifting her skirt with her free hand so that she didnÔÇÖt trip.
Ethan squeezed her left hand. ÔÇ£Me, too. The rock face is right up this way.ÔÇØ
They came around a corner and the path opened up to a big rock looming at least thirty feet into the air. There were some creases and cracks in it, but how anyone could scale it with only their bare handsÔÇöor why they would want toÔÇöwas completely beyond her. ÔÇ£You can seriously climb that?ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£I can climb it. Ryan can kick its ass, though.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£Okay then. Show me.ÔÇØ
With a cocky grin, he reached up and hooked his hand into a crack in the rock. He pulled himself up, his biceps flexing most impressively as he climbed. Holy shit, that was sexy. Soon she was left with nothing but a view of his very fine ass. And by the time heÔÇÖd reached the top, she was so turned on, she could hardly stand it.
ÔÇ£So?ÔÇØ he called from the top. ÔÇ£You going to join me or what?ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£Not a chance. But I will enjoy watching you climb back down.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£Gotta give the lady what she wants.ÔÇØ His fine ass reappeared over the edge as he started back down. He took his time on the descent, and if she wasnÔÇÖt mistaken, he might have reached for a few hand and footholds that made him flex his muscles a little more than was strictly necessary.
ÔÇ£YouÔÇÖre a show-off,ÔÇØ she said when his feet were back on solid ground.
He was a bit out of breath, his bronzed skin glistening with sweat, trademark smile still in place. ÔÇ£No clue what youÔÇÖre talking about.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£No? You really needed to reach all the way to that notch?ÔÇØ She gestured above them. ÔÇ£Instead of the one closer to your shoulder that maybe wouldnÔÇÖt have shown off your lovely biceps quite as well?ÔÇØ
He flexed for her. ÔÇ£What, these old things? And for the record, I totally needed the leverage.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£Mm-hmm.ÔÇØ For some reason, she put her hand on his biceps, and oh crap, that was a mistake. His skin was hot beneath her fingers, and his blue eyes blazed into hers.
ÔÇ£Killing me, Gabby,ÔÇØ he murmured. ÔÇ£Killing me.ÔÇØ
His words sent a bolt of red-hot desire right through her, and she must have made a sound because Ethan sucked in a breath, his gaze locked on her lips. His hands settled on her hips, burning into her skin through the thin fabric of her skirt.
