Avery Bardot steps off the plane in Rome, looking for a fresh start. SheÔÇÖs left behind a soon-to-be ex-husband in Boston and plans to spend the summer with her best friend Daisy, licking her woundsÔÇöand perhaps a gelato or two. But when her American-expat friend throws her a welcome party on her first night, AveryÔÇÖs thrown for a loop when she sees a man she never thought sheÔÇÖd see again: Italian architect Marcello Bianchi.
Marcello was the manthe one who got away. And now her past is colliding with her present, a present where she should be mourning the loss of her marriage andhey, that fettuccine is delicious! And so is Marcello
Slipping easily into the good life of summertime in Rome, Avery spends her days exploring a city that makes art historians swoon, and her nights swooning over her unexpected what was old is new again romance. ItÔÇÖs heady, itÔÇÖs fevered, itÔÇÖs wanton, and itÔÇÖs crazy. But could this really be her new life? Or is it just a temporary reprieve before returning to the land of twin-set cardigans and crustless sandwiches?
A celebration of great friendship, passionate romance, and wonderful food, Roman Crazy is a lighthearted story of second chances and living life to the fullest.
Roman Crazy (Broads Abroad #1) ,┬áa collaboration born of the creative minds of Alice Clayton and Nina Bocci releases in just over a month. ┬áI’m┬álucky to have received an ARC and I can tell you having just hit Chapter 5, I’m in love with the writing, which is perfectly seasoned with snark, angst, espresso, and gelato! ┬áTo say I am excited to see just where this story is going (maybe some intimate scenes with Avery and Marcello ??) is a definite understatement. ┬áAlso, it’s making me kinda hungry ┬áfor ┬áItalian pastries and thirsty┬áfor wine ┬á(errrrr…I mean cappuccino) and┬álonging for an Italian vacation. ┬áI think I caught the fever and may be a bit Roman Crazy myself!
So, here are the 8 questions we posed (why 8 and not 10? No idea!). But, don’t they know that “answers only make more questions”? ( stole that from a Dixie Chicks song). So , I’ll be camping out near the Alice Clayton and Nina Bocci table at #MileHighAuthorsEvent where I can badger them some more…
US & THEM + *blogger commentary*
How do you decide who writes the sex scenes? OR more simply, do you fight over who gets to write the sex scenes?
Nina. 100% Nina. I have read more than a few of her sex scenes over the years and I knew sheÔÇÖd KILL IT. Sometimes we write together, sometimes one writes and the other revises and when it came to sex scenes, it was all HER. SheÔÇÖs a dirty dirty bird. *snicker ~ ┬áYou’re no slouch yourself Alice!*
Do you each write for a specific character or do you both write for all the characters?
We both write for all. ROMAN CRAZY is in AveryÔÇÖs POV but even though itÔÇÖs essentially her story we were both careful to make sure Marcello has his own say as well.
Do you each have a favorite character?
IÔÇÖm kind of partial to Marcello myselfÔǪ *yeah, I’m getting┬áthe┬áfeeling he’s┬ápretty swoon-worthy. Physically he’s purrrrfect ~ serious literary hottee*
How do you decide what a characters traits will be?
IÔÇÖm not sure that we ever sat down and said this person has to be these 3 things, they just sort of evolved as we plotted. We knew we wanted Avery to be kind of coming out of her shell a bit, rediscovering who she used to be. That was fun.
Do you both write the dialogue ?
Yes. ┬á*succinct┬áanswer – fair enough*
Is it 100 % collaboration or do you divvy up the story line?
100% collaboration. We outline together, divide up the scenes, then we each work on our own then edit each othersÔÇÖ scenes to make sure its 1 voice.
How do you settle writing differences ( if you have any)?
Nina likes to say that we arm wrestle but the truth is itÔÇÖs always a dance off. *hmmmm, wondering about the music choice here*
Do you write at the same time/place or do you do it on your own?
We live several states away from each other so sadly we never actually get to write together but we did make sure we were together when we outlined.
