Praised by Penelope Ward as ÔÇ£a unique story line with multiple layers to it,ÔÇØ Sarah RobinsonÔÇÖs Saving a Legend goes another round with the brooding Kavanagh brothers: MMA fighters who wonÔÇÖt call it quits in the ring, or in romance. His familyÔÇÖs gym has produced a roster of mixed martial arts legends, but so far Kieran Kavanagh hasnÔÇÖt followed in their footsteps. After a brawl lands him in jail, Kieran is assigned to work at a center for at-risk youth. Though given a second chance, KieranÔÇÖs simply going through the motionsÔÇöuntil he meets one very special kid, Shea Doherty, and falls hard for her very beautiful, very grown-up big sister, Fiona. The trouble is, KieranÔÇÖs best opening moves are getting him nowhere fast. Fiona Doherty has too many responsibilities to fool around, especially now that she has custody of Shea. Sure, sheÔÇÖd love to find a devoted partner. But she wonÔÇÖt jeopardize her sisterÔÇÖs happinessÔÇöor risk revealing her tortured pastÔÇöon a love-ÔÇÖem-and-leave-ÔÇÖem type of guy like Kieran . . . so itÔÇÖs up to him to prove her wrong. As Fiona spends more time with Kieran, she starts to see a softer side of the reckless warrior. Now she must admit that when it comes to the possibility of real love, well . . . thereÔÇÖs a fighting chance.
Have you met the Kavanagh Clan yet?┬á If not, youÔÇÖre certainly missing out.┬á This is a close-knit family who really does prove that blood is thicker than water, no matter what.┬á This time we get to meet Kieran, who was serving a sentence in Book 1.┬á Mistakes, ego, and penance start us out on the tale of this troubled Legend.┬á HeÔÇÖs lost and truly unsure of his pathÔǪuntil he meets Fiona.┬á He gets a second chance to find love for the first time.
Fiona manages to bring a clarity, perspective, and new desire into KieranÔÇÖs life.┬á SheÔÇÖs a fighter with her own demons.┬á While life has not been particularly easy, sheÔÇÖs always known what her dreams are: her sister Shea and her flower shop.┬á In that order.┬á ItÔÇÖs quite the precarious balance and bringing Kieran into her life disrupts her delicate tightrope walk.┬á But, heÔÇÖs pretty irresistible.
So, what do I love the most about this book and this series?┬á All of the KavanaghÔÇÖs have their own compelling stories, their own demons.┬á The way the family bands together to support each other through their trials is the beauty of these books.┬á Whether itÔÇÖs love, sadness, loss, or something in between, they always have each otherÔÇÖs backs.┬á Add in how the Kavanagh men fall in love: fast, intense, and forever.┬á The women they find are so lucky to be loved by these men.
Saving a LegendÔǪI pondered on this title for a while.┬á Who exactly did the saving?┬á Well, I donÔÇÖt think there was one particular savior.┬á I think Fiona and Kieran end up saving each other, both of them being lucky enough to be supported by the entire Kavanagh clan.┬á What an amazing support network and example of what family and love should look like.
