June Mayson and Evan BarristerÔÇÖs whirlwind courtship resulted in a secret marriage right before he left for boot camp. June promises to wait for him, knowing neither time or distance will ever change her feelings for EvanÔÇöthat is until sheÔÇÖs served with divorce papers while heÔÇÖs overseas and sheÔÇÖs forced to let him go.
Her marriage and divorce a well-kept secret, the last person June expects to run into when she moves back to her hometown is Evan. Angry over the past, she does everything within her power to ignore the pull she feels whenever he is near. But how can she ignore the pain she sees every time their eyes meet? How can she fight the need to soothe him even if she knows sheÔÇÖs liable to get hurt once again?
Is it possible for June and Evan to find their way back to each other again? Or will they be stopped by an outside force before they ever have a shot?
The Boom is real!
Meet June & Evan in Until June !
A second chance romance with a sexy alpha male. ┬áLOOK LONG AND HARD at that cover…WHEW! ┬áEvan is the good guy who will sacrifice everything for his love (June)…even his own heart. ┬áAnd June is left picking up the pieces. ┬áI didn’t read the first book in the series, but the good news is that you can catch on pretty quickly as to who everyone is and how they relate to one another. ┬áThere were a few times when I was lost in some of the details which were probably covered in book 1. ┬áI’ll use it as motivation to go back and read it 🙂
I wish we knew a bit more about June (she’s a teacher, but I feel like the details are purposely left vague). ┬á ┬áThere are some amazingly strong bonds in the family and friends. ┬áSometimes it takes a bit to remember everyone and their particular traits (lots of sisters), but when they get together there is some mayhem.
I’m torn on Evan’s level of alpha. ┬áSometimes it was exceedingly hot and other times it was excessive. ┬áThere is a hard balance to find with these characters because you don’t want them to be assholes, but at the same time, they have a dominant nature (how far that extends outside of the bedroom is contingent upon the character). ┬áIt would have been great to see some more of his tender side at times. ┬áBut, I will say this…his truck completes the badass image Reynolds paints. ┬áLike I said…look at the cover photo and then imagine that guy in Evan’s truck….how could June melt. ┬áIt sure did a number on me!
I think the only thing that caused me pause in this story is the flip in Evan. ┬áHe was determined to keep June at arm’s length for her own good, and then BOOM…fuck it…switch was flipped. ┬áIt felt a bit sudden, but, then again, they do have quite a back story.
You get a pretty complete story with June and Evan – no cliff hangers. ┬áPlus, you get to know several of the other characters who will either be secondary in future books or get their own story. ┬áIt’s a pretty quick and steamy read. ┬áUntil June gets a thumbs up from me!
Seeing Evan again is taking a toll on me, I canÔÇÖt sleep and my mind is in a constant state of turmoil. I wake up in the middle of the night from dreams of us. The memories of him, of us are too much. Some memories have the ability to heal. The ability to light up the dark because the beauty of the memory is so bright youÔÇÖre still able to bask in it.
But the memories of us are killing me slowly. They remind me that for one moment I had everything while reminding me itÔÇÖs gone. ItÔÇÖs the realization that weÔÇÖre done thatÔÇÖs killing me. The realization that I can see him but canÔÇÖt touch him that he exist but heÔÇÖs not mine is agonizing.
