Reeling from a recent break-up, Anne is surprised when she meets Jim, her handsome ER doctor. SheÔÇÖs been burned one too many times before, with the most recent relationship fail happening not even an hour before they meet! Catching her on-again-off-again now definitely-off-again boyfriend with her roommate, in her own living room, was definitely not how she planned on spending her Saturday. She definitely didnÔÇÖt plan on spending it in the ER either!
ItÔÇÖs not been AnneÔÇÖs best day, to say the least!
JimÔÇÖs been looking for ÔÇÿThe OneÔÇÖ for what seems like forever. His work hours limit his dating life and any women who come into the ER are either drunk out of their minds or are on enough drugs to make rock stars jealous. Getting involved with a patient is the last thing that he wants or needs.
Will Jim and Anne get their happy ever after or does Ben, her best guy friend, have intentions of his own?
Sometimes, you have to close your eyes and listen to your heart in order to see the future.
This was an interesting novella by an unknown-to-me author.┬á The synopsis seems interesting so I went for it.┬á Poor AnneÔǪshe gets smacked right out the gate with a boat load of bad.┬á Of course, like all bad things, it comes in sets of three.┬á SheÔÇÖs super sick, her semi-boyfriend is a douche, and her roommate is a slut.┬á Add in a hospital stay, and Anne has officially won the suck lottery.┬á That is, until she unexpectedly ignites some sparks with her doctor, Dr. Jim.┬á There is some unexpected hilarity in the ER (Anne sure lets some funny ones ripÔǪNurse Bangable). ┬áShe has a pretty great sense of humor and is kind of innocent.
Being that this is novella, the story and relationship does progress rather quickly.┬á We get a crash course on getting to know Jim ÔÇô a man looking for love and when he finds someone of interest, heÔÇÖs not taking his time.┬á HeÔÇÖs a rather intense bloke and with a side of jealousy.┬á ┬á┬áAnd, he definitely does not like AnneÔÇÖs friend, Ben.
There is a lot of potential in the novella to be fleshed out as a full-length story.┬á Quite, honestly, I think I would have felt that the story was less abrupt if it could have been longer; things evolved so quickly I felt like I missed something.┬á The secondary characters, Ben & Renee, have a lot of promise.┬á I hope Daniel will bring us their story with all the twists, turns, and messiness.┬á Hopefully, weÔÇÖll get to see Jim and Anne again so we can get to know them better.
The authorÔÇÖs writing style flows well and provides good imagery without being redundant.┬á I hope to see her involve more comedy in her future works.
