I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Holly Woods is going to hell in a handbasketÔÇöbut this time, Satanists arenÔÇÖt to blame. Halloween is.
Nonna doesnt understand why there are skeletons and demons everywhere. Mom is threatening to stitch a devil into Nonnas pillowcase if she doesnt shut up. Bek is bumbling over a date with Jason, the handsome FBI agent who conveniently got himself relocated to Austin, and I Well. Im considering running away to a town without the crazies.
Nothing new here.
Everything is going smoothlytoo smoothlyand I cant shake the feeling that something is about to happen. Drake insists Im being paranoid But when a body turns up at the Holly Woods Halloween party, we have a whole lot more than a murderer to worry about.
Because the prime suspect is his mom.
And itÔÇÖs my job to prove sheÔÇÖs innocent.
WeÔÇÖre back in Holly Woods, and I couldnÔÇÖt wait to spend time with Noelle and Drake again, and of course Nonna. Tied Bond was another great addition to a series that is fast become a favorite it of mine. ItÔÇÖs the perfect combination of suspense and comedy.
This time around, itÔÇÖs DrakeÔÇÖs mother whoÔÇÖs the lead suspect in a murder investigation. And to make matters worse, Drake, who would usually be the leading detective, is being asked take some time off while the investigation is underwayÔÇömaking a difficult situation even worse. At the same time, his mother asks Noelle for help, but keeping it quiet, putting her between a rock and a hard place. She didnÔÇÖt want to keep secrets, but she also didnÔÇÖt want to break a promise. Putting all her energy into the case, Noelle wonÔÇÖt give up until she finds the real killer, no matter what it takes.
And as usual, Noelle canÔÇÖt help but find trouble for herself. Making the situations she gets herself into hilarious and had me laugh out loud throughout the book. Especially Nonna, whoÔÇÖs a favorite of mine, is a hoot. The bickering between the Bond family members is priceless. But I also liked that for the first time we saw more than them just bickering, we saw another layer of their family dynamics, which might not actually be as perfect and supporting as it seems on the surface.
Tied Bond was another great read and I loved to see Noelle and DrakeÔÇÖs relationship evolve, grow, and strengthen. For once, Drake and Noelle were not fighting over silly stuff, but supported one another and grew as a couple.
But my favorite part is Becca and her antics. Her nervousness over a date and not knowing how to act were not only endearing, but also funny. I cannot wait for her storyÔÇöshe better get together with who I want her to!
This is another entertaining, sexy, smoking, and suspenseful read and definitely worth reading. IÔÇÖm totally in love with Drake and Noelle!
~Review by Anja
I pinch her. ÔÇ£DonÔÇÖt you have a date to be on?ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£A date? You have a date?ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£ThatÔÇÖs the third time someone has asked me that. Why is that so surprising to everyone?ÔÇØ Bek holds out one hand, fixing wide eyes on Drake.
ÔÇ£Because your last ÔÇÿdateÔÇÖ was signing up to Match-dot-com,ÔÇØ he reminds her.
Looks like heÔÇÖs dropped the arresting thing.
ÔÇ£It was right after Tinder Dick turned out to be fifty years old and cheating on his wife,ÔÇØ he goes on.
Ah. Yeah. My bad on that one. I had a gut feeling that Tinder Dick wasnÔÇÖt the hunky summinÔÇÖ summinÔÇÖ in his picture. LetÔÇÖs just say Carlton was pretty scared and tried to get a day off after being subjected to the horrors of a fifty year old manÔÇÖs penis.
Not that IÔÇÖm saying fifty year old men have horrid penises. I guess cock shots while the Viagra is still in the shot would be pretty damn scary to a twenty-something guy in the prime of his life.
Bek shudders. ÔÇ£Thanks for the reminder.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£WhoÔÇÖs your date with?ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£Why do you want to know?ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£Who has a date?ÔÇØ a familiar voice interrupts.
ÔÇ£The hell did you come froÔÇöwhat the fuck are you wearing?ÔÇØ I stare at my youngest brother.
ÔÇ£IÔÇÖm Thor. You know. The superhero.ÔÇØ Brody tugs on the cape.
ÔÇ£DoesnÔÇÖt he have a hammer?ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£Yep. But he isnÔÇÖt the only one that can lift it.ÔÇØ Brody grins, prompting Drake to laugh next to me.
ÔÇ£IÔÇÖm not even dignifying that with a response, Brodes. ThatÔÇÖs the worst pick up line IÔÇÖve ever heard.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£ThatÔÇÖs what she said before she picked it up.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£How old are you?ÔÇØ I wrinkle my face up.
ÔÇ£Can we get back to the question? Who has a date?ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£I have a date!ÔÇØ Bek snaps. ÔÇ£Yes. I have a date. ItÔÇÖs not that surprising.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£You have a date?ÔÇØ Brody frowns. ÔÇ£Since when did you date?ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£Since before you knew how to get your cock hard, idiot.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£Oooh, damn,ÔÇØ Drake hisses under his breath. His fingers twitch against my waist.
No shit. ItÔÇÖs like tension is carpet bombing the fuck out of us. I feel like an intruder, and thatÔÇÖs saying something.
BrodyÔÇÖs eyes narrow. ÔÇ£YouÔÇÖre starting to piss me off, Bek.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£IÔÇÖm sure Melanie will cheer you up when you show her your hammer.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£What is your problem?ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£Apparently my problem is that I have a date!ÔÇØ
Yeah. If thatÔÇÖs the problem, IÔÇÖm a drunk, lesbian nun with triplets and a pet skunk.
Brody looks at the glass in her hand. ÔÇ£How much has she had?ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£Not enough for your bullshit, clearly,ÔÇØ Drake claps him on the shoulder. ÔÇ£You should go find Melanie before whatever is in BekÔÇÖs glass ends up on you, man.ÔÇØ
Smart man. ThatÔÇÖs why I like him.
That and he hasnÔÇÖt run away screaming yet.
