Her life had never been a fairy tale. Adopted at birth, Isabella never felt like she fit in. All she ever wanted was a happy family and a love of her own. When she suddenly became a single mother of two, her life changed for the worst until she ran into a handsome stranger.
A billionaire playboy, Gabriel had lived a charmed life. Never one to settle down, he didnÔÇÖt understand why he was drawn to this woman he knew his father would never accept. Still, one date leads to another and suddenly he had the life he never knew he always wanted.
Together, their life was perfect, until the lies were exposed. Then, their happily ever after couldnÔÇÖt be further away.
First A Dream is the second book by Emma Nichols that I’ve read. The first thing that stands out to me is the range┬áof her story lines. ┬áThe Truth About Love is a story about the struggles of marriage, parenting, forgiveness and second chances. First A Dream is more of a modern fairy-tale. Oh our main character, Isabella does have a less than ideal marital history but when she meets Gabriel, it feels as though a spell is cast over the two of them which seals their fate. ┬á While they are both hesitant, the chance at happiness is one neither can pass up.
Brought together by chance, Isabella and Gabriel seemingly have nothing in common. He’s a young and wealthy playboy while Isabella is a young mother on the brink of ditching her scumbag┬áof a husband. Isabelle is definitely worthy of having a good guy in her life. ┬áShe’s taken on too much responsibility in her young life and lived with self-absorbed mother & sister, and then later a dismissive husband.┬á She has a very supportive friend and boss who do what they can to help make things happen.
Due to logistics, Gabriel and Isabelle are allotted only certain days together so their relationship builds slowly. Gabriel’s non-relationship modis operedi doesn’t quite fit into wooing a woman who is clearly not game for a one night stand and who is very family oriented. ┬áThey both approach it with caution and live in the moment attitude, ┬áremaining rather chaste in order not to push too far.┬áHis friends are surprised by his devotion to Bella but they remain supportive (I’m hoping Bens’ story is next). ┬á He has his faults, but there’s nothing too major, certainly nothing unforgivable occurs.
While I loved the magical aspect of their story, with Gabriels romantic notion of fate (beshert), ┬áand the warmth of Gabriels’ adoration, there’s just not enough angst. Initially Isabella experiences betrayal that doesn’t set her back all that much. With Gabriel, there are doubts about how long they may last and when he does disappoint her, ┬áit doesn’t last very long. ┬áBella’s history makes her wary but Gabriel ┬áis persistent and turns on the charm. ┬áHis affluence does allow him to make things happen. That combined with a considerate nature, he’s almost a little too perfect. So, if you want a sweet love story without too much strife this is the perfect read for you.

While coming out of her hazy sleep, Isabella stretched slightly and felt an arm tighten around her mid section. She happily reached down to touch him and slowly opened her eyes to find Gabriel staring at her, propped on his side. ÔÇ£How long have you been awake?ÔÇØ She rubbed at her eyes.
ÔÇ£I donÔÇÖt know. IÔÇÖve just been lying here studying you.ÔÇØ His lazy smile caused her to blush. Then Gabriel leaned down to graze her cheek with his lips, sending a ripple down her spine. Isabella looked away, giving him the perfect opportunity to run his fingers down her neck. She shivered again.
ÔÇ£Stop! I canÔÇÖt even think with you touching me.ÔÇØ She grinned and covered herself with the sheet. ÔÇ£So, what shall we do today?ÔÇØ She tried to change the subject in order to pull herself back together. It had been so long since she had been caressed and cherished.
ÔÇ£You donÔÇÖt like me touching you?ÔÇØ
Au contraire. I love your touch. Im ridiculously attracted to you, but She frowned as she tried to figure out how to explain the emotions she battled.
ÔÇ£ThereÔÇÖs always a but.ÔÇØ He chuckled.
ÔÇ£ItÔÇÖs scary getting intimate with someone new.ÔÇØ Isabella sat up and shrugged. ÔÇ£And once we start, thereÔÇÖs no going back. IÔÇÖm afraid of going too fast, not savoring, missing out on all those glorious stages before the big show.ÔÇØ
Gabriel tugged at his goatee. ÔÇ£Impressive analogy. WeÔÇÖll take our time,┬ámy Bella. I want to savor every moment with you. Does that help?ÔÇØ
It does. Its just thatits different for me. When we do this, Im not simply sharing my body, Im sharing my heart.
