Chloe CarmichaelÔÇÖs life feels pretty sweetÔÇösheÔÇÖs both maid of honor and florist for her best friendÔÇÖs A-list wedding, things are getting serious with her boyfriend, and her flower shop is about to get a spread in a national magazine. But it all quickly turns sour whenever the best man, Bad Habit drummer A.J. Edwards, shows his face...his handsome, unforgettable face. A.J. is everything Chloe doesnÔÇÖt want: tattooed, selfish, and all-around bad news. So why canÔÇÖt she stop thinking about him?
Goody two-shoes Chloe isnÔÇÖt exactly A.J.ÔÇÖs type, either, but the chemistry between them is undeniable. A.J. will be the first to say he isnÔÇÖt a saint, but thereÔÇÖs something heÔÇÖs not sayingÔÇösomething that would devastate Chloe. The only way he can protect her is to push her away, but the drummer finds he needs her now more than ever. When a wedding-day confrontation reveals secrets theyÔÇÖre both hiding, will Chloe and A.J. ever find their rhythm again?

Make Me Sin is the first of ┬áJ.T. Geissingers’ books to hit my Kindle. ┬áSince then, I’ve loaded up on book 1 from this series (Sweet as Sin) and since I’ve added a few other of her books to my library. ┬áMake Me Sin was one of those reads that sneaks up on you. It wasn’t what I expected and it turned out that was more than okay. In the end, the plot was darker and the characters more complex then anticipated and it was a welcome surprise.
Make Me Sin was very much a story driven by the the complexity of ┬áemotions between the two main characters Chloe and A.J. ┬áCircumstances brought A.J. and Chloe together but they have such strong disdain for each other, right from the get go, you just know its gonna be a treacherous read. Honestly, it took me a while to feel their attraction. I’m thinking I get that they have a hate f*ck in their future, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. Turns out they have much more to offer each and they antagonize each other at every chance they have, ┬áso clearly they have a thing for each other, right?
A.J. is ┬áa tragic character. As we learn about his past he seems damaged beyond repair. But I never got the impression he wasn’t worthy or not already on the path of redemption, he’s simply misunderstood. Well he does keep a lot of secrets. ┬áWhile A.J. is dark, Chloe is light and oh so naive. She also transforms the most and she goes from stubborn, to victim, to a woman who is tough as nails. The story is in Chloe’s voice and we see her relationship with her parents ( not so great and at times very confusing), her brother ( adore him) and her friends ( true soul sisters). She’s creative and has a temperamental heart and I found myself feeling very protective of her. I’d say both she and A.J. got under my skin.
The story is packed with action, with villains creating chaos and some self sabotage on A.J.’s part. ┬áCertainly a highlight in the story line is A.J. ‘s chromesthesia which adds for some interesting interactions between he and Chloe. ┬áAll in all, I became a fan of J.T.’s and I am looking forward to going back and reading Sweet as Sin ( and seeing just how A.J. and Chloe meet). 4 Stars and recommendation!
