She wanted a one-night stand...and then he moved in next door.
Paige Bennett is more than content with her life and what she doesÔÇöand does notÔÇöhave in it. SheÔÇÖs got a supportive family, a great apartment, and the best friend a girl could ask for; so what if her relationships expire faster than a carton of milk? After a disastrous detour courtesy of poor judgment in the boyfriend department, her plan is back on track and her dream job is finally within her grasp. Nothing can make her lose focus now. Well, nothing except the one-night stand she had with her best friendÔÇÖs surrogate brother. The one-night stand she canÔÇÖt stop thinking about.
Adam Reid has always been reliable...the responsible son, the loyal friend, the steady boyfriend. Two years ago, he graduated Magna Cum Laude and is well on his way to making a name for himself at an accounting firm in DenverÔÇöa far cry from working as a helper in the Mom and Pop store his parents own in Michigan. But when said store starts failing, heÔÇÖs the only one who can step in and help. So reliable Adam does what he always does, and he comes to the rescue.
Paige thought Adam was a safe bet because he lives halfway across the country. But then suddenly heÔÇÖs moving back to their town, and then into her apartment building, and soon heÔÇÖs worming his way right into her life. If sheÔÇÖs not careful, he might sneak his way into her heart, too...
Paige In Progress is a great addition to Brighton WalshsÔÇÖ Reluctant Hearts series. ItÔÇÖs a sultry and sweet love story and confirms my thoughts on Paige from Tessa Ever After. I adored her as TessaÔÇÖs side kick and she holds her own when she is the star of the story. ┬áBrighton Walsh shows she knows how to capture the range of emotions surrounding love and angst.
In this case, Paige has a hard line when it comes to the ÔÇ£RÔÇØ word. SheÔÇÖs already compromised her goals for a relationship only to be burned in a most indiscriminate way. ┬á┬áPaige may be afraid to jump into a relationship, but sheÔÇÖs is a self confident young woman with strong opinions and a competitive nature.
The story is set in the summer following PaigeÔÇÖs graduation from college as she’s┬ábeginning and internship with hopes to land a permanent job. ┬áSo, sheÔÇÖs got her life mapped out. Only a certain someone in her circle of friends ┬áis back ┬áin town for the summer and sheÔÇÖs irresistibly drawn to him. Not without cause as they did have an amazing one-night stand when they last saw each other. But itÔÇÖs not like Adam to do hook-ups but his time home is temporary. ┬áBut they have chemistry (off the charts/out of bounds and all that) and devise to justify spending time together. That is until they are faced with a where do you we go from here. We knew there would be this type of angst. Brighton does an amazing job showing how Adam and Paige have been changed through their ÔÇ£relationshipÔÇØ.
For me, ┬áAdam steals the show. He and Paige are simply adorable together and she brings out a certain side flirty side. I lost track of the number of nicknames/endearments that Adam started using on Paige but some of my faveÔÇÖs are Baby Cakes and Sugar Britches. ┬áHis playful nature was enough to win me over, but heÔÇÖs also considerate and thoughtful. I mean come on, he buys her favorite Chicago mix popcorn…HeÔÇÖs also SEXY as all get out and he gets sexier as the story goes on. HeÔÇÖs developed this bedroom ÔÇ£alpha speakÔÇØ that inspires *shivers*. HeÔÇÖs serious swoon worthy material.
Once again, Brighton Walsh does an amazing filling out her characters, giving them substance with their interactions. I loved getting to know more about Paige and her family. Her brothers are delightful and I hope we get a story on one of both of them. I happily recommend Paige In Progress and give it 4  stars.

About the Author
Brighton Walsh spent nearly a decade as a professional photographer before deciding to take her storytelling in a different direction and reconnect with her first love: writing. When sheÔÇÖs not pounding away at the keyboard, sheÔÇÖs probably either reading or shoppingÔÇömaybe even both at once. She lives in the Midwest with her husband and two children, and, yes, she considers forty degrees to be hoodie weather. Her home is the setting for frequent dance parties, Lego battles, and more laughter than she thought possible.
