Uncovering this sexy geekÔÇÖs charm is easy. Keeping her hands off of him is impossible.
While he may look like the love child of a movie starlet and an NFL linebacker, Ben Langley has the people skills of a half-drowned porcupine. Why socialize when there are chemistry labs and bad sci-fi flicks? If he has any hope of taking the helm as CEO of the family business, Ben needs an image makeover. Pronto.
Enter Holly Colvin, owner of First Impressions public relations and branding firm, and the woman who just saved Ben from the clutches of an over-attentive sales clerk. HollyÔÇÖs rebranded hundreds of companies in her career, but sheÔÇÖs never rebranded a person. The guy clearly needs help, though, and sheÔÇÖs just the woman for the job.
With the clock ticking for them both, Holly and Ben face off over wardrobe malfunctions and business jargon that sounds a lot sexier than it should. But can Holly make Ben into the man he thinks he should be without losing the man sheÔÇÖs starting to love?
What a fun book!! A total ÔÇ£meet cuteÔÇØ in a furniture store between a PR/Marketing professional ┬áand a man who needs to redo his image.┬á I love the cute nerd who has the hidden layer of awesome, but doesnÔÇÖt seem to care about the superficial stuff.┬á Seriously, this is my type of guy.┬á So, as you can imagine, I was completely sucked into the read very quickly.
Ben Langley has this level of sweetness which is so endearing.┬á HeÔÇÖs brilliant at everything except social niceties.┬á Oops. ThatÔÇÖs now paramount since heÔÇÖs the new CEO of the family company.┬á Even if he is the sweet smart nerd, itÔÇÖs fun to see what lies behind the glasses.┬á I honestly love his thought process and his learning curve as he grasps his new role (CEO and hottie).
Holly Colvin is quite the success at work, despite her social life being in ruins.┬á Though I donÔÇÖt like some of her decisions or rationalizations, I do like her character.┬á SheÔÇÖs clawing her way back from emotional hell, and I find her to be one hell of an amazingly strong and intelligent woman.┬á She does fall prey to her own thoughts and emotions at times, but sheÔÇÖs a fun and take charge woman when sheÔÇÖs in her element.┬á ItÔÇÖs a great time when she figures out that Ben is her element (wink, wink).
IÔÇÖm a newbie to Tawna and selected the book solely on the synopsis.┬á I can promise the book definitely delivers.┬á The story and writing are better than what I could have anticipated from an unknown author (to me).┬á IÔÇÖm sold on FenskeÔÇÖs writing style and find myself wanting to check out her other books.┬á Need a cute read?┬á Pick up this book!
~ Review by Loredana
The saleswoman turned and scurried away, leaving Ben to stare down at the wife now affixed to his arm. She tucked her hair behind her ear and glanced the direction the saleswoman had retreated.
ÔÇ£I hope I read that right.ÔÇØ The brunette scooted out from under his arm, and he instantly missed her softness. She looked up at him with those odd violet-gray eyes and smiled. ÔÇ£You looked like you were being eaten alive there, but too polite to tell her to back off.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£Eaten alive,ÔÇØ he repeated, a little mesmerized by the womanÔÇÖs eyes. ÔÇ£IÔÇÖm not entirely sure.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£Seemed like thatÔÇÖs what was going on. Salesgirl sees a big guy with a big budget and bigÔÇöÔÇØ she paused, then gave a small shrug. ÔÇ£Well, sometimes it brings out the worst in women.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£Thank you,ÔÇØ he said, meaning it. ÔÇ£IÔÇÖve been flying back and forth between cities all week, so IÔÇÖm a little jetlagged and distracted. I guess I wasnÔÇÖt even a hundred percent sure I was beingÔÇöuhÔÇöÔÇØ
ÔÇ£Hit on? Ogled? Mentally undressed?ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£Right.ÔÇØ He cleared his throat. ÔÇ£Not until you pointed it out. Thanks for the rescue.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£No problem. Pay it forward sometime.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£Is that real? ItÔÇÖs huge.ÔÇØ
She blinked, then glanced down at the paperweight-sized rock adorning her ring finger. ÔÇ£Nah, I keep it in my purse for when I want to avoid getting hit on at ladiesÔÇÖ night.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£Does it work?ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£Not with the real jackasses, which probably defeats the purpose, huh?ÔÇØ
He nodded, not sure what to say to that. ÔÇ£IÔÇÖm sorry, what was your name again?ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£Holly. Holly Colvin. IÔÇÖm the owner of First Impressions.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£WeÔÇÖre a public relations and branding firm that specializes in creating and remaking corporate identities.ÔÇØ She fished into her purse to pull out a business card. She held it out to him and Ben started to reach for it, but Holly withdrew her hand.
ÔÇ£Shit. Vampira the Sales Queen is headed back here.ÔÇØ
Before he could say anything, Holly was sliding her hand around to cup his ass. For a few beats, he thought she was copping a feel, and he hoped like hell she kept doing it. Then he realized she was tucking her card into his back pocket. She grinned and tilted her head back to look up at him.
ÔÇ£Gotta commit to the role, right?ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£Right,ÔÇØ he murmured, staring down into those slate-speckled eyes. ÔÇ£We certainly do.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£I suppose we could throw in a little something extra if you really want her to buy it.ÔÇØ
Her lips parted slightly, almost like she was braced for a kiss. Or was that his imagination? It seemed hot in here, and he was getting dizzy, and now all he could think about was claiming those perfect lips.
ÔÇ£IÔÇÖm sure youÔÇÖll come up with something,ÔÇØ she murmured.
Her mouth looked so soft, so inviting, and he could have sworn her lashes fluttered low the way they might if she were waiting for him to make a move. A big move.
He knew what he needed to do. What he wanted to do.
And with that, he bent and kissed her.
