This Montgomery Has a Head for Business
Working for Zach Montgomery is challenging on many levels-coming from a wealthy and powerful family, he lives by his own rules and doesn't answer to anyone. But Gabriella Martine has no intention of backing down. She's used to handling stubborn men, and it doesn't hurt that Zach is smart, charismatic and gorgeous.
And a Heart for Adventure
Zach's perfect world is turned upside down when a climbing accident leaves him broken, angry, and maddeningly dependent. In his slow quest for recovery, Gabriella is always there to help but as Zach comes to see his beautiful assistant in a new light, he is forced to re-evaluate what it really means to be aman worthy of Gabriella's love.
ItÔÇÖs rare to find a male matchmaker, but in I’ll Be There (The Montgomery Brothers #6), Montgomery family patriarch and romantic William finds an interesting excuse to shake up the life of his nephew Zach. Zach is in bad sorts as he struggles with recuperating from a terrible accident. So uncle William decides itÔÇÖs time to wake Zach up with a tactic meant to build his confidence and heal, all the while getting the girl that is clearly perfect for him, his assistant Gabriella Martine. The idea is designed to get Zach back in the game and round out ZachÔÇÖs shallow life.
When we first catch up with Zach, heÔÇÖs not the most sympathetic character. HeÔÇÖs brooding and now angry at his unclesÔÇÖ interference, not that he knows true intentions. But Chase creates characters that are multi-dimensional and although it took some time, but I found myself charmed by Zach. HeÔÇÖs sexy and at his core self assured, but we see him at a time where he is very vulnerable. His stubborn nature sways his attractiveness a bit, but heÔÇÖs a force.
Gabriella on the other hand is a sympathetic and likable character from the go. Maybe itÔÇÖs cause we know sheÔÇÖs put up with Zach for a long while, but itÔÇÖs easy to understand her hesitation with WilliamsÔÇÖ proposition. But Gabriella is not a girl who backs down from a challenge and Zach is someone she knows too well. ItÔÇÖs likely the only person who might get through to him is Gabriella. The one thing I loved about her is that she knows her limits, knows exactly what can and canÔÇÖt hurt her. This self awareness makes her an interesting character to follow.
As for the story line and Zach and GabriellaÔÇÖs relationship. The pace, the buildup to them, is steady and there are many moments of contention between them. Zach is seductive and expects to get his way but Gabriella keeps him working for it. I like the angst that we get (although I expected it sooner then it came), but itÔÇÖs the kind where you wonder just HOW they will salvage their relationship. Their HEA is much needed and deserved. ThereÔÇÖs just enough damage and heartbreak, but we also get to see our characters evolve and turn faults to strengths.
ItÔÇÖs not necessary to have read the previous books, but there are a few backstory items mentioned that give context to ZachÔÇÖs life and GabriellasÔÇÖ role in it. And the secondary characters really do add a lot to the story. ZachÔÇÖs sister Summer and her relationship with Gabriella gave me some of my favorite moments The sixth book in the Montgomery Family series, IÔÇÖll Be There is a strong 4 star read. Being my first read of Ms ChaseÔÇÖs work, IÔÇÖm impressed by the family and look forward to when i can dive into book 1 and read the series in proper order.

Reaching across the table, Zach took one of GabriellaÔÇÖs hands in his and just marveled at how soft it was. He always wondered what her skin felt like and now that he knew, he wanted to feel more. ÔÇ£DonÔÇÖt leave me. Please.ÔÇØ
Her blue eyes filled with tears and she used her free hand to quickly wipe them away before they fell and then studied their hands on the table. ÔÇ£Zach,ÔÇØ she said softly, ÔÇ£weÔÇÖve been over this.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£I know, I know,ÔÇØ he replied just as softly. ÔÇ£I need another chance, Gabriella. I need a chance to make things right.ÔÇØ He looked up, his gaze meeting hers. ÔÇ£I need you.ÔÇØ
Deciding to be bold, he turned her hand over and twined their fingers together and gently squeezed. He was surprised she didnt pull away and thought maybejust maybethey were making progress. I know I cant erase the things Ive said and done, but if youll give me one more chance, Gabs, I promise not to screw up. If I do anything to upset you, you can walk away. Hell, you can slap me in the face, kick me in the shin or throw something heavy at me and Ill take it. I justI cant do this without you.
Her eyes never left their joined hands.
ÔÇ£I donÔÇÖt want to do this without you,ÔÇØ he said quietly.
Im afraid tobelieve you. He barely heard her words, they were uttered so softly.
Everything inside of him clenched with pain. His always confident, ever-efficient assistant was now distrusting and uncertainÔÇöbecause of him. ÔÇ£I donÔÇÖt know what to say to make you believe me. Tell me. Tell me what I need to do. Anything. Anything you need from me to gain your confidence, and IÔÇÖll do it.ÔÇØ
She looked up at him. ÔÇ£ItÔÇÖs not that easy. Every day I walked into the office, I gave you another chance. Every time you berated me or made me feel like I screwed up and I came back, I gave you another chance. From my standpoint, youÔÇÖve had two yearsÔÇÖ worth of second chances. I think IÔÇÖve been more than generous.ÔÇØ
His other hand reached out to cup her hand in both of his. ÔÇ£I know you have and you have no idea how much I appreciated it.ÔÇØ She looked at him with disbelief. ÔÇ£ItÔÇÖs true! I know I never said it but every morning you were there, I was thankful. Every time you walked into my office, I was thankful. Please. IÔÇÖm begging here, Gabs.ÔÇØ
New York Times and USA Today Bestseller/contemporary romance writer Samantha Chase released her debut novel, Jordan’s Return, in November 2011. Although she waited until she was in her 40’s to publish for the first time, writing has been a lifelong passion. Her motivation to take that step was her students: teaching creative writing to elementary age students all the way up through high school and encouraging those students to follow their writing dreams gave Samantha the confidence to take that step as well.
When she’s not working on a new story, she spends her time reading contemporary romances, playing way too many games of Scrabble or Solitaire on Facebook and spending time with her husband of 25 years and their two sons in North Carolina.
