Book one in the CARELESS WHISPERS series. This is a standalone spin-off of the INSIDE OUT series (soon to be a TV show) that follows Ella Ferguson, Sara McMillan's best friend.
Ella Ferguson awakes alone in Italy, unsure of who she is, and a gorgeous man has claimed her as his own. HeÔÇÖs tall, dark, and sexy, with money and power, the kind of man who makes a girl want to be possessed. And he does possess her, whispering wicked wonderful promises to her, stealing her trust and her heart. Soon though, the past finds her, yanking her from a cocoon of passion and safety. Everything is not how it seems. The truth will shatter her world, but it can set her free, if it doesn't destroy her first.
As a fan of Lisa Renee Jones Inside Out Series, IÔÇÖve been looking forward to the release of Denial (Careless Whispers #1) for a long while. ┬áThe IO Series started due to Ella FergusonÔÇÖs purchase of a storage unit and her sharing RebeccaÔÇÖs diaries with Sarah. ┬áEllaÔÇÖs disappearance, running off to Europe to marry a man she hardly knew always seemed a bit suspicious. It turns out that SarahÔÇÖs concern for EllaÔÇÖs well being is justified. The last we heard she was running through a shop in Italy, and the whyÔÇÖs were piling up.
Lisa writes stunning mystery romance stories. Every book of hers has been well plotted and is built around characters you will either love or hate. ThereÔÇÖs also a fair amount of sexy times and that’s always worked into the story very well. In this case, Ella is paired up with the mysterious Kayden Wilkins and these two have an instant-connection. But from the moment we meet him, there was something to be wary about. His business is dangerous and Ella is in a very precarious position.
The victim of an attack that left her with no memory of who she was or why she was in Italy would have hobbled a lesser woman. IÔÇÖm only convinced of this because as the story unfolds and Ella gains memories, she begins to reveal a very interesting side of herself. I think she is Not.At.All ┬áwho we were led to believe. ThereÔÇÖs so much more to learn about Kayden too, about his company and his circle of friends and acquaintances. The fact that Ella is almost too comfortable with him leaves the imagination wide open. It’s always fun to make these guesses while reading LisaÔÇÖs stories. More than once IÔÇÖve found my theories to be off. Jones is very clever, building anticipation and then leaving us with a bit of a cliffhanger to ponder over. ┬áNow IÔÇÖm looking forward to the May release of Demand and to see how Jones shows us the real Ella and what the real motivation is for KaydenÔÇÖs interest in Ella.
