Hes a player in more ways than one
College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hook-ups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road heÔÇÖll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that heÔÇÖs worth a second chance.
Now hes going to need to up his game
After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. SheÔÇÖs not a charity case, and sheÔÇÖs not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? HeÔÇÖll have to work for it. This time around, sheÔÇÖll be the one in the driverÔÇÖs seatÔǪand she plans on driving him wild.

Cyndi and I were lucky enough to do a ÔÇ£mini group readÔÇØ comprised of just us two.┬á The beauty of reading a novel with one friend or a group of literary lovers is enjoying the journey together.┬á You get to experience those beautiful moments together or fiercely disagree over a character.┬á Regardless, itÔÇÖs a ton of fun.┬á We loved the book so much, we hope youÔÇÖll read it ÔÇô solo or in a group.┬á HereÔÇÖs what we thoughtÔǪalong the way and at the conclusion.

Cyndi: So, I’m giving some thought to John Logan being my Cub to my “if I were a Cougar and in this book” persona ( which I’ve just come up with). He inspired the idea.┬á I’m scared he’s gonna hurt Grace

Loredana: I would totally catfight you for him.

Cyndi: His crush on Hannah!!!

Loredana: I know.┬á ItÔÇÖs heartbreaking.┬á So destructive to covet something that doesnÔÇÖt belong to you. It’s a lot of lust. Superficial

Cyndi: So, I’m loving how he asked her this “Face your fear for me? I promise it’ll be worth it”

Loredana: It’s a beautiful way to show his romantic side.┬á He may have been a player but he was just waiting for the right woman. His person.┬á ItÔÇÖs like no matter how messed up a situation…if you’re with the right person, nothing is going to stop you from doing you best to by his/her side.┬á That’s what Logan represents to me.

Cyndi: Yeah there’s something about him that’s softer. He felt bad not getting her # and went back for it…

So, we agreed that we LOVE John Logan.┬á Even as he messes up (because our beloved men do), heÔÇÖs still Grade ÔÇ£AÔÇØ qualified for Book Boyfriend status.┬á However, we didnÔÇÖt always agree on all of the secondary characters.

Cyndi: I love her friend Ramona.┬á The whole “Show him your kinky side..” convo

Loredana: I have to admit that I distinctly do not like Ramona. She’s got a great side to her but I can’t stand how her words make you doubt her loyalty to Grace. She’s lost sight of her friendship…the realness of it

Cyndi: Ramona is an F#?+=!$ C#!$  Hate her

The best part of having a book buddy?  When you hit those really low parts of the book, you have someone to help you ride out the hurt you feel for the characters.

Cyndi: Gawd, this is sad – He’s so depressed and just STUCK.

Loredana: The fact that’s he feels so deeply confirms that he does indeed have a heart of gold. What a horrible future he faces. Heart wrenching.

Cyndi: It is. I heart him! I’m so sad for him.

Loredana: It makes me love him even more.

Even better?┬á You get to share your thoughts with someone besides your significant other (who is not as invested in the book and characters as you are).┬á I mean come oneÔǪhow many times have you gasped or laughed out loud just to get a confused look that turned into deeper confusion when you tried to share the greatness of the moment?┬á Luckily, Cyndi and I had each other!

Cyndi: I so love being in Graces head: referring to herself as ÔÇ£sophomore GraceÔÇØ and thinking about gallivanting with her mother and meeting her new roommate. Adorable, right? Remember what that was like?

Without a doubt, we loved the book.  Let us tell you why.

Loredana: Elle Kennedy blew me away with her writing.  Her ability to make you fall in love with someone so intent on playing the field is remarkable.  She shows you the vulnerability, courage, passion, and love.  John Logan has been added to my personal legion of Book Boyfriends.  I needed a BB who plays hockey!

And Grace?┬á I love her confidence.┬á When she decided she was worth it and not going to put up with sh*t?┬á Good for her.┬á I have a soft spot for female who exude quiet strength, confidence, and, well, grace.┬á ThatÔÇÖs probably the best way I could describe her.

Cyndi:┬áOne of the best parts of the book for me?┬á Gosh, so I loved The Deal ÔÇô I think it was a bit more angsty. And I love angst! HOWEVER, I love The Mistake more. There I said it. In The Mistake, ElleÔÇÖs writing was just as solid and her dialogue writing ÔÇô well, itÔÇÖs stellar! So, itÔÇÖs just the way I connected with the characters and the plot. She created a beautiful young man ÔÇô John Logan HAD my heart from the go. He was selfless, he didnÔÇÖt play games, and he knew when he was in the wrong and worked to make things right.┬á I agree with you, Loredana! GraceÔÇÖs confidence was so refreshing ~ When Logan made his HUGE blunder, my heart cracked and although she was hurt, she was definitely not down!

And you were right about Ramona <spoiler>┬á ÔÇô sheÔÇÖs not gonna make best friend of the year ( she deserves the freeze out she got) and I was proud of Grace, sticking to her guns. </spoiler>

This was such a fun read we had to share our fave lines:

ÔÇ£Lorris? As in Logan and Morris? ┬áThey fucking BrangelinaÔÇÖd themselvesÔÇØ ~ Grace

ÔÇ£This is the first time IÔÇÖve ever wanted to lick a guyÔÇÖs stubble. WhatÔÇÖs wrong with me?ÔÇØ ~ Grace

ÔÇ£This is for a chick, right? Because if youÔÇÖre just doing it for funsies, then thatÔÇÖs just plain weird.ÔÇØ ~ Garrett

ÔÇ£Oh shut up. YouÔÇÖre awesome, and IÔÇÖd tap that in a second. But I canÔÇÖt compete with this guy. HeÔÇÖs operating on a whole other level when it comes to youÔÇØ ~ Morris

So, there you have it.┬á I think we both award this book and Elle Kennedy 5 overwhelming stars and Book Boyfriend status to John ÔÇ£JohnnyÔÇØ Logan.
