Don't say it unless you mean it
It's a simple concept, one I've said time and again, but something people don't seem to comprehend. You should choose every syllable carefully, because you never know when somebody will hold you to your word.
Somebody like me.
I'm not a good man. I'm not. I know. I have enough darkness inside of me to rid the world of every stitch of light. But there's one I could never harm, one light I couldn't bring myself to snuff out.
She thinks I'm a monster, and maybe I am. I taunt her with my touch, get a thrill out of torturing her soul. But I'm not the only one. The world is full of monsters, and I'm not the most dangerous one out there.
Not even close
God help me, I love her.
And God help anyone who tries to take her from me.
Whoa. I would have never expected this, not in a million years. I wasn’t wowed by Monster In His Eyes, the first book in the series, so I was wary when I started reading Torture To Her Soul. But holy damn, was it good.
I guess part of the reason for this was that it was from Naz POV and he definitely had more of a story to tell than Karissa did. Also, the fact that he has enough personality to last a few lifetimes was helping. He is brooding, tortured, dangerous, thoughtful, and downright philosophical. I could have continued reading his thoughts for days. He has so much depth, it’s hard not to drown in it. His feelings, his thoughts, his deedsÔÇöcomplicated and complex, just like the man himself. He’s not just a jerk or a control-freak, there is so much more to him. I’m swooning and swooning hard.
And even Karissa has grown and gotten herself some personality. In this book, I actually quite liked her. I liked her sass, her passion and the love she had for NazÔÇöthough it was totally twisted and fucked up.
The story wasn’t action-laden, instead focused on Naz and his feelingsÔÇöthe way he experienced things. But the dramatic events that did transpire took my breath away. It was suspenseful, full of drama and heart-ache. I loved it and enjoyed every moment of this read.
4 surprising stars.
