In this erotic retelling of ÔÇ£Sleeping BeautyÔÇØ set in the near future, a beautiful young woman awakens in the garden of a secluded palazzo with no knowledge of who she is or how she came to be there. For the man who walks out of the darkness to claim her, she is at once the ultimate challenge and the greatest temptation.
Haunted by terrifying memories of another existence, Amelia is caught between passionate desire for Ian and longing to discover her true self. Even as he is determined to possess her body and soul, IanÔÇÖs need to protect Amelia leads him into a confrontation with his tormented past.
Together, they face the challenges that lie beyond the sanctuary of the palazzo in the glittering world city on the edge of cataclysmic change. In the midst of sensual excess that conceals seething rebellion, Amelia and Ian will discover that love has become the ultimate threat to survival.
An ÔÇ£OH MY GOSHÔÇØ 5 Stars
This book was certainly not what I thought it would be based on the synopsis.┬á Geesh, am I glad. It was so much more! This erotic retelling is loosely based on the premise of the fairy tale, but then take a hard left until you run right smack-dab into a IanÔÇÖs rock hard abs. The book has a bit of a dystopian feel to it with a touch of Gideon Cross from Sylvia DayÔÇÖs Crossfire series set in the near future. Think, caste system with Gideon in the future, but heÔÇÖs just as sexy reincarnated as a dark Ian Slade with his own set of demons trying to navigate unknown waters (aka Amelia).
Amelia wakes up with no recollection of who or where she is, yet images and an innate knowledge begin to bombard her and she KNOWS wants Ian. In the days since she wakes up, she is struggling to find out who she is and if her ÔÇ£willÔÇØ is indeed her own.┬á Even though Ian is a virtual (but super sexy) stranger, he is there every step of the way to help her discover her world, herself, and him.
ÔÇ£When I woke up and realized I have no idea who I amÔǪI was afraid, even panicky. Instead, I felt removed from own emotions, as though insulated from them in some strange way.┬á And then, once you appeared, it got worse.┬á I seemed to have no will of my ownÔǪWith all of that I donÔÇÖt know about myself, IÔÇÖm still certain that being so compliant isnÔÇÖt natural for me.ÔÇØ
As he slowly (well, tries to, at least) show Amelia a world she does not know, he canÔÇÖt help their magnetic pull.┬á The result? Think, a balcony in the rain, a spa, the gold roomÔǪ Oh, I know you want to know exactly what that meansÔǪI guess youÔÇÖll have to read the book!
As an avid lover of romance novels of all genres, I am always so happy when I discover a new type of plot line or a book that has a superb story to support all of the steamy bits that make me blush.┬á ThatÔÇÖs definitely what youÔÇÖll get in this book. Litton does a magnificent job of dropping discreet hints for the subsequent books in the series as well as making this a cerebral erotic novel.┬á Seriously, Litton burns up the pages with erotic imagery yet keeps you highly interested in the plot twists of the novel.
I am a newly converted fan and you can bet I am going to snatch up every single one of her books!┬á Do yourself a favorÔǪread the book.
