Two years out of college, Angelica Bondesan spends her time working as a barista, keeping in touch with her prodigal brother, and trying to figure out how to bridge the gap with her father, a wealthy real estate developer.

But all of that changes the night sheÔÇÖs kidnapped. Thrown into a windowless room, Angelica is positive thereÔÇÖs been some kind of mistake ÔÇö until she meets Nico Vitale.

Gorgeous and frightening, Nico became the boss of New York CityÔÇÖs Vitale crime family after the execution style murder of his parents two years earlier. Since then heÔÇÖs turned the old-school mob into a sleek, modern army of ruthless men who understand that physical violence ÔÇö while always an option ÔÇö isnÔÇÖt the only way to get what you want.

Now Angel is forced to face the truth;
Her father is not the man she believed him to be.
Nico Vitale is dangerous, possibly lethal.
She is falling in love with Nico Vitale.

I’m usually not a big fan of mafia books, especially if they involve kidnapping. But something about the synopsis has drawn me in and from page one I was fascinated by this novel.

Nico Vitale is the head of the syndicate in NYC after his parentsÔÇÖ murder two years prior. During his time as mob boss, he has brought the mob into the twenty-first century by modernizing the business. He is powerful, ruthless, modern, but yet at the same time, he can be gentle and sweet. This dichotomy is one of the reasons why I enjoyed this book so much.

Angelica Bodesan is a bored, post-graduate who works a dead-end job serving coffee. After her motherÔÇÖs dead, her family is estranged to the point where she hasnÔÇÖt talked to her father in months and barely sees her brother. However, her mundane life changes drastically the night she gets kidnapped. Thrown into a basement and frightened, she isnÔÇÖt aware that her life is about to be turned upside down. However, what impressed me the most is her strength throughout the whole ordeal. Despite the dire circumstances, she is brave and courageous throughout it all.

Their chemistry, which is explosive, is also unwanted. Yet, the more time they spend in each otherÔÇÖs company, the more the lines blur, and soon they cannot deny their attraction anymore. However, arrangements have been made that complicate things immensely and jeopardize their newfound love. Will they be able to forgive each other when all is said and done? Can they move forward together? Or are their differences to big?

This is a very enjoyable read and has kept me hooked from page one. It does end in a slight cliffhanger, but I cannot wait for book two to be released two!
